Welcome to the Journey

Hello, and welcome.

I'm Anand, a massage therapist, massage teacher and the founder of The Intuitive Bodyworkers.

Where it all began

I was raised in a holistic Indian family, where caring for one another through touch was simply a way of life. Much of what I know, I first learned from my mum, Meena. Most evenings we'd sit by the fire watching a film, massaging each other and making aromatherapy blends to try out together. Through her, I grew up with reflexology, aromatherapy and Indian head massage, and a deep respect for the body's innate wisdom. Those cosy evenings planted the seeds of a lifelong passion.

My path

I went on to train in a wide range of holistic therapies, including aromatherapy, Indian head massage, reflexology, deep tissue and myofascial release, pregnancy massage, Thai yoga massage and energy-based healing. I was fascinated by the way the body, mind, emotions and energy all influence one another.

Later, I spent four years training to become a nurse. It gave me valuable insight into healthcare and a deeper appreciation for caring for people during vulnerable times. Yet throughout, I felt a quiet calling back towards holistic work. For me, it's the most natural and meaningful way to care for the whole person, not simply a symptom or condition.

Teaching

Today, my greatest passion is teaching. Alongside practical skills and techniques, what truly lights me up is helping people trust themselves.

Many students arrive believing they need to memorise every movement or perform massage perfectly. I encourage something different: to listen, to slow down, and to trust their own experience. As they relax, their hands begin to move naturally, creativity emerges, and they learn to respond to the breath, the body and the unique needs of the person in front of them. I also share practices for staying grounded, centred and clear in your boundaries while caring for others.

For me, massage is a practice of presence. When we are truly present, touch becomes a conversation rather than a technique.

Where you'll find us

I've recently moved to North Wales, which has always been my dream. I now teach in North Wales, Lincoln and Switzerland. The Intuitive Bodyworkers are based in Lincoln, offering treatments at retreats and branching out further afield.

Our team

Meena, my mum and my very first teacher, joined The Intuitive Bodyworkers this year. Her skill, warmth and experience are extraordinary, and it's a joy to share this work with her.

Elaine began her holistic journey a couple of years ago and trained with me on the Intuitive Presence massage course. She has embraced this way of working beautifully, and we're delighted to have her on the team.

Penelope Swan is currently travelling for a year, and we can't wait to welcome her back.

I believe it's a privilege to be welcomed into another person's healing journey, and an honour to teach others to offer that same care. Thank you for being here. I look forward to meeting you, whether for a treatment or on a course.

With warmth,

Anand
